This was my personal knife for a couple of years, has been reconditioned for sale; re-ground thinner, handle re-finished and sheath re-fitted. There are some spots where it hasn't been possible to remove all signs of use, such as where blade meets handle where the original patina etch is still present.
Designed as a longer, flat ground version of a bushcraft knife, with a semi spear blade shape. I wanted something that could span slightly larger fire wood for batton splitting, span a larger loaf of bread for slicing, and snap cut small branches a little better than a 4 inch blade. While I generally like having a lanyard hole, mostly so I can use it to blow on fire coals, I never actually missed it on this knife.
Blade:- 5 inch O-1 tool steel, home treated in a forge with multiple cycles. 5/32" stock, flat ground with a distal taper, somewhat convex edge. Slightly tapered tang. Belt finished to 800grit and polish.
Handle:- Curl-Burl American ash, stabilised by WSSI (yes, old wood!). Black vulcanised fibre liners. I have never seen wood like this since. Almost looks like horn Stainless Corby bolts. For reference, I wear a medium/size 8 glove.
OAL:- 10" inch
Sheath:- Black Kydex and black PVC belt loop for vertical carry. Belt loop is drilled for left or right hip carry (for left handers out there) The sheath is drilled to take a Bladetech Small and Standard Tek-lok horizontal or vertical. When I carried it, I used a small Tek-Lok for horizontal carry. Sadly, I don't have any spare.
Weight (mass):- Knife in sheath 265g. Without sheath 196g
