Hey, no matter how you look at it, the guy makes a living doing what he loves. On top of that, he teaches others. How many of us can say we love our jobs? And, the greatest gift one can give another is knowledge. He's got me beat on two levels.
So you think I was right to pack in my well paid IT job to become a teacher on half the money? :lmao:

I'm a teacher and I find that I love my job in inverse proportion to the time I'm there.
Now I only work two days a week I love it a lot. Next year I will achieve one hundred percent love because I will be retiring. :0)

The Landy is ready, the fishing gear is ready, the canoe is nearly ready and I'm off to explore the UK before it disintegrates, and especially the poor benighted bit that England has become.

All that being said, he isnt that big here in the states. I dont think that bushcraft, or even survival, is that big here, as it is with you folks. But, thats ok.

I just recently stumbled upon him via this site. And, although I've since seen alot of his older stuff, I can see that he truly enjoys what he does. And, I am a little envious he gets to travel as he does.

Hi Oldsoldier, we have Ray Mears and for that i'm truly thankful, but you also have people that are truly inspirational and they are the native American Indians,i for one would give my eye teeth just to be privileged enough to be sat around a smokey fire learning the skills of these true Human beings.

That's not quite fair. More like millions watching the TV show, and he sold out two nights at the Tunbridge Wells Assembly Hall.

I reckon he could sell out quite a few medium sized theatres.

For those who missed an evening with Ray Mears he will be touring at the end of the year with his "In front of and behind the lens" lecture the dates can be found on the woodlore website as well.

"We are pleased to announce Ray's In front of and behind the lens tour dates for 2007, where you will have the chance to see his unique collection of photographs. Ray will take you on a journey to some of the most extreme corners of the world, sharing his experiences over the past 15 years in the making of his television programmes.

Tickets are available from the venues and not from Woodlore
