I would suggest per day (approx):

At 15 Degrees Celsius 2 litres resting, light work 3 litres, hard work 4 litres

At 25 Degrees Celsius 4 Litres resting, light work 5 litres, hard work 6 litres

Hm. I'll explian how it works again, if you have a question post it here and it will get answered. it doesn't matter if it's already been asked several pages ago, providing everyone is onboard you will get the answer and NOT have to make a seperate thread to ask each and every question.

is that hard to understand? (no this isn't a 'quick question' it's rhetorical)

'on average how many litres of water do you consume/use when staying for 2 nights? '

I still don't fully undertsand mate. I have no 'guests'.. I wanted to know how much water people use/need. As when not driving knowing how much water you need for extended stays is quite important.

don't worry about it mate, he was just being a bit pedantic, with the (presumed) intention of being humorous.

technically speaking you should've phrased your original question as follows; "on average how many litres of water does one consume/use when staying for two nights", but because you live in the real world you used real world english. the kind of person who likes to point out inadequacies in others would jump upon that error as a way to highlight their own perceived intellectual/educational superiority over others. folk who aren't quite so bothered by that kind of thing would probably just answer the question that their own, obviously superior, intellect would have no problem whatsoever in figuring out, even if your use of english wasn't strictly correct. but then it takes all sorts doesn't it

i take a full ten litre water bag for two nights, as well as a 1litre bottle, and i'd expect to have a little left at the end. beer makes a great water replacement for most tasks you know :)

Don't want to ruin your thread , but what happens when a newbie fails to see this Q and A, thread and goes down the route of asking a question , that some on here will yawn if not tut at,going to gain confidence and feel part of the family , not dissing your idea ,but you are still going to get the frequently asked standard queries posted all over the place , cos a remarkable amount of people don't use the introduction thread either ..

I guess their question would be answered and then they could be directed to this thread to ask any more questions they may have. Unless of course their question is on a sticky thread and actually easy to find.

I think the stickies already serve this purpose for faq. If any question is asked often enough it gets elevated to a sticky.

Questions also can have multiple answers.

I commend the idea, but I think the execution unfortunately won't work.sorry fella.

I'm oooooot!

Sounds like your trying to solve a problem which is the difficulty of searching for info on the forum.

By creating what potentially
would be a very long and repetitive thread.

In theory someone could ask 'what's the amount of water I need for 1 person for 2 nights camping'. Get an answer then say 2 pages later someone else could in theory ask the same thing... The idea being not to bother searching through the thread but to simply ask the question you want the answer to?

The forum where it worked brilliantly without stupid comments, jokes and attempts to wind people up were on www.symthic.com .

Yes, like I've said several times already. Just ask and get the answer, don't search the thread. it's ment to be quick.

Hypothetically if I spent a good bit of my time in answering a questioned posed. Then a couple of pages later someone asks the same or a very similar question. Either because they find it difficult searching, or fundamentally are a bit too lazy to look for an answer. Am I supposed to answer the question again or direct them to the post I previously made??
