Quick grid reference question

Trying to look up a grid ref but I think I am doing something wrong. The reference is an O/S survey map reference and is given as:

SS4106NW

I have tried putting this into numerous on-line grid reference map programs and haven't had any luck.

Am I missing a very simple trick here?

If you drop the NW off the end it takes you to a wood in West Bradford, Devon

Is it a ref someone has given you? Maybe they mean the location is NW but within that area?

Yep. It's some more land I am looking at - a subdivided smallholding selling off plots but I couldn't for the life of me get the grid ref to work.

And Shewie that reference is off the title plan for the land on the land registry website which I thought would have been more accurate.
