I tried today to buy some priming paste for my svea but to no avail; it seams that no one stocks it any more. I visited a few of the local big chain camping stores and a couple of the local old fashioned hardware stores with no joy.
Can you still get it nowadays?

Not seen it for a long time now in the UK. I did see it in Canada last year but couldn't bring any back due to airline regs.

Optimus used to do squirty bottles of a clear lighting gel but I've not seen those for a long time either.

which Svea do you have ?

I've got 123R.

I hadn't thought of the green snot; when I have used the greenheat stuff in my Crusader it leaves a lot of residue once burnet out.

If you open the valve and wrap your hands around the tank, the fuel will ooze out of the jet and run down into the cup.

I have a bit of brass tube about 70mm long and with an internal diameter of about 5mm that I put into the tank, cover the top end and vacuum holds enough fuel in it that I can use it like a dropper to drop some fuel into the priming depression.
The brass tube looks like its meant to be with the stove but in reality I bought it from B&Q
Can't say I'm fussed about getting a little residue on it and I only carry one fuel for the stove.

Optimus burning paste is (as far as I know) no longer made, not so sure about Meta tablets.

It is still made by the likes of Coghlans but you don't need it. I tie off a bit of fibre glass sheet around the burner above the priming cup and use either meths or fuel from the tank. Don't waste your time and money looking for paste, beware 'green snot' as it can leave a residue and burns 'cold' anyway.
