Hi all.

I'm making a staff for my friend, and I'd like to finish it without spending money.

It is a piece of pine I bought from the hardware store, because I got sick of waiting for my sticks to dry. (plus they are all bloody hardwoods)

Will Boiled Linseed Oil put a nice colour on my staff? I already have some so I could just follow those instructions.

any other advice?

cheers

Pine mellows to a dark honey colour just with time
Beeswax and turpentine is the usual finish that I know of.

cheers,

you could try the oil then when dry use some brown boot polish for that darker look and shine.......

HAVE NEVER USED THIS METHOD but thats what id do, try it on small off cut first......................
