I was reading through a book on knots (Essential Knots and Ropework, G Budworth) this morning and came upon this knot which is fairly handy and dead easy to tie. A doubled version is also fairly stable to pull in any direction too.
However my reason for posting is that the text states that "if there were to be only one knot in the world it would have to be this for it can be ingeneously adapted into a knot bend binding or loop".
Now is there anyone out there who is ingeneous enough to manage this (and show us how) or are we all to igneous to do it :)
 
that's an interesting knot that, it has other relatives the cow hitch and the mooring hitch I'll have a play with it over the weekend and get back with the results
