Well I finally got my Singer 29k58 working:lmao:.

It was playing up, stitching a firm split leather, but missing altogether on a softer leather. After much reading I eventually got the tension lowered in the bobbin which has meant that it's now picking up stitches.

A fresh settee (beatuiful leather) succumbed to the skinning knife and this is the result.

Not much compared to all you real 'leather guys' but I'm very happy with the double seam (as I can't do that on the ordinary sewing machine) and I love the base as there's not a single missed stitch.

Thanks for looking.

Hey Monkieman, never mind about all that "real leather guys" i for one have no patience, inclination or skill to attempt to make anything, other than a mess or occasionally make people laugh!

Looks great to me, well done.

It takes a good bit of practice on a sewing machine to produce a good stitch, looks like your proficient at it now.
Well done

Thanks for the comments folks.

It was a bit of a headache getting the machine going but I'm so happy nowit's stitching perfectly.

Just hope it hasn't changed by the time I use it again!

I just have to keep hiding all the pouches I make from my other half:eek:

I've got a motor driven Singer 99K, that I am trying to get to grips with for the last year, with it comes about 10 add on attachments, can I ask is yours similar ? And do you have to use an attachment to get the double stitch? Or is it a specialist type of machine?
Regards
Bill

Wow. That must be some beast of a machine. I am jealous.
Lovely pouch as well. Maybe you should make one for all your nearest & dearest for Xmas.
