there is a thought provoking discussion here on how 'motivation' always eventually fails!! When it comes to developing new habits eg fitness, strength training then the road to success lies in making these part of your ROUTINE eg walking to work, climbing the stairs instead of taking the lift. Dr Chattergee does 5 mins strength training EVERY after he gets up and is waiting for his coffee to brew. Also some interesting points about removing as many barriers to your goals as possible so that your exercise is as convenient as possible. eg For many of us the act of driving to the gym( not that I go to a gym) has the added barrier of an extra task( driving) If you get my meaning.
I do exactly that. it's not motivation, it discipline. I put my goals on a to do list and practice everyday . I take small steps towards bigger goals. Its the same with everything. I meditate everyday. I have found that ten minutes daily is better than ten hours on a Sunday. I always remember an old man who told me " A little, and often". x

Forbearance. Ah forbearance oft I swore.
Oh but was I sober when I swore?
Then came Spring and rose in hand,
My threadbare penitence apieces tore.
