New pocket knife

I got one of these and spent under 5 minutes with a file on the lock mechanism... it's now a stiff slip joint and legal.

I also got a nice little case folder at the wilderness gathering, late 1960's early 1970's and mint... again, legal.

I just noticed that... could be a result.

To make legal, undo the screw with a slotted screw driver and the top catch lifts out. File the little notch down a bit and replace.

couldn't really be easier and I guess if you wanted to, you could just remove the catch completely and keep it safe in a drawer to make a locking folder at a later date.

normal Folders ( slipjoints ) are designed to be held open by the spring and most ive seen the spring is stronger than a lock version as the lock vrsion used the notch to help hold the blade open
i would be conserned of creating a folder witha weak spring hold more likley and more dangerous than a purpose made non locking folder .......... if you follow me

Not great if you want to do an extended bit of carving, I found that out again just earlier on stripping bark off of two staves!

These are definatly worth considering.

Rough Rider, the top one is jigged bone and the bottom is stag antler, both genuine. Both UK EDC legal.

I called www.heinnie.com to check their stock as I wanted a Marbles slip joint. I was told that although they had stock these were better quality and better value for money. Heinnie even rated them as better quality than Case.

You wont find them on their web site as they did not want to detract from the sale of others in their range, but call and ask.

Now...the painful bit, they were both supplied and delivered for less than £20, yes both .

I did have to finnish the edges off, but are now shaving sharp and I will say that very good quality, I always have one in my EDC pouch. I did polish that awful writing off.

I have a double blade - lambsfoot and spear point as my EDC - its very "gentlemanly" somehow and quite clearly a tool not a weapon. A handmade, rosewood and brass handled knife for £20 - £30

These are beautiful knives and just what i want !!!! I would really like a 2 bladed version with a farmers blade and a lambsfoot but they're 3.5" long so would not be legal

Leon, the 3 1/2" is the closed length. IIRC the blade should be under 3" so fine (but measure it to be sure)
