The MakerMoot is a relaxed weekend gathering for anyone who loves to make things, whether that’s leatherwork, sewing, carving, knitting, or tinkering with your latest creative project. Think of it as a “maker’s retreat” in the woods: time and space to work on your own creations, share skills with others, and enjoy good company around the fire.

We have created the MakerMoot to coincide with two fantastic nearby events - The Original Re-enactors Market (TORM) and Artisan & Reenactors Market (ARM) - both just a short trip away. It’s the perfect chance to stock up on materials and inspiration, then return to camp to turn your finds into something amazing.

We’ll have a large, warm, indoor workshop space that’s dry and well lit, perfect for crafts and detailed work. There's also a covered outdoor area for those who like fresh air while they work. Bring your tools, materials, and ideas - we’ll provide tables, power, and space to spread out.
It’s up to you how involved you want to be; Whether you're into leatherwork, sewing, carving, knitting, blacksmithing, bushcraft, or brewing up wild ideas — bring your own projects and tools, and spend the weekend making, tinkering, or just taking it easy.

If you have a specific skill, or craft you would like to share just let us know so we can share that with others.

And when the tools go down, the evening fire becomes the heart of camp — a space to unwind, chat, share skills, and soak up the glow of a creative weekend.

I know some people will be there on Thursday 13th. I won’t be getting there till Friday 14th.
Still no real idea what I’ll be making! I may just whittle a stick and see what emerges!!!

Nor me. I have a shopping list but no craft projects planned.

But I found a bag of cartriges to make match cases with.

(Do folk still do that?)

I'll not be joining people at Rough Close, but I will be trading at TORM :-) I look forward to seeing friendly faces!

The makers moot is a great idea. There are so many excellent stalls at both market that will tempt and inspire people I'm sure

Wish I was there - but probably best that I was not ....
Van window developed a fault and would not shut (local mechanic fixed it but imagine an unclosable window in that rain!) and I developed a bout of Vertigo (that I am prone to) so - a trip to 6 hrs from home may not have been ideal!
I hope all of you who made the Makers Moot had a great time - and I hope to make the next one!

I had been hoping to come along to this one but alas my employer went into administration without warning in early October. It's been a tad "interesting" since then, hopefully things should be back on an even keel in the new year so I can make it to the Winter Moot.

Thanks Tony.
A good time spent with good people.

Not that I made much, other than a mess and some great friends.
Good to have you Pat, ace work on the leather bracelets goodjob
