As promised I ordered another knife from fgyt, after using this knife with a "flandi" grind I wanted to try the same with a flat ground knife.

So I slapped some red oak scales on

As i have noted in the past some of the tests I like to run with a new knife are mostly wood working, for me this is a first to try any wood tasks with a flat grind and such a thick blade- to my surprise it functions very well. Obviously not as well as any of your scandi ground blades but it has some great thickness to it that i would rather have in the outdoors

Some comparison pics with another new knife but older blade by fgyt in bearing steel as well.

And finally in a new sheath (sheath is actually an old one with some new stitching to it)

Re visited the post to find out that the pics did not show at all. So sorry for that.

I have used this new knife since and i have enjoyed using it alot, it takes time getting used to the flat ground blade and obviously the thickness takes getting used to, but with that thickness behind every cut it seems to have so much more power.

I have not enjoyed the staining the blade got from cutting up some meat and some veggies(onions and garlic), I dont really know how to get that out ? if it will come out at all ????

i guess its a working knife and not a drawer queen so i can live with it not staying shinny.

Thanks you guys for looking and hope to make it next year to the moot, it has been my dream now for a few years but could not bring myself to it for financial reasons.

Great looking knife. Loving the crossdraw sheath as well.
As for the staining on the blade flats, if you want to remove them, I find rubbing them over a loaded strop will polish the blade back to original finish without leaving any of the scratches that an abrasive paper or wire wool can. Hope this helps :D
