Needle case (Mary Rose style)

  • Hey Guest, We've had to cancel our 2020 Summer BushMoot PLEASE LOOK HERE for more information.

Bushcrafter (boy, I've got a lot to say!)
I got inspired by the picture in Mears and Fälts latest book. Not quite done in the picture, it is currently waitng for a coat of linseed oil to soak in.

It was a piece of bone dry rowan i had laying around, drilled the hole with a traditional spoon bit (a round bottom!), and then did all the rest of the work with the SBK. I made a stopper out of juniper, with a reindeer leather pull tab. I'll take a picture one it is all done and has some thread on it.

Really nice work, looking forward to seeing it all finished. In fact you've just inspired me to have a go myself, I know I've got some hazel floating around (even if I have to do a stopper at both ends because of the pith)

I like the plugged needle compartment.

That's really smart and nice bit of carving too, considering it was bone dry Rowan....
