Hi can anyone enlighten me about a torch I saw some years ago?

I friend that was a soldier had a black torch that was switched on by flicking or touching his wrist. it would have been around 1988 to 91 i saw it.

It was a torch about the size of Maglite AA and was strapped to his wrist, and somehow he trned it on/off by moving his wrist(it was so you could hold/aim a rifle and use the torch at the same time "hands free").

I don't know:
what it was made of.
what batteries it took (I guess AA).
how much it was
where it came from.

anyone know?:dunno:

Prehaps a private purchase?Cant say ive ever heard of one...
Wasnt one of those Beta lights?Or are they more recent issue?Ive seen some funky lights that go on your finger like a ring.

You could buy an aftermarket compression switch for the AA Maglite. It was for fixing to pistols, but was no good for that so people adapted it for more practical applications.

Did it have a red filter attachment aswell if so it could have been a pilots torch, the red filter was infra red so it could be used with night vision goggles.

I utilise a number of pressure switched torches - many of which can be worn or mounted in a huge variety of ways (normally based on a pictinny or weaver rail system).

Happy to describe the mountings, switch options etc. if it helps
