My new toy - GB SFA

  • Come along to the amazing Summer Moot (21st July - 2nd August), a festival of bushcrafting and camping in a beautiful woodland PLEASE CLICK HERE for more information.
Fantastic tool. Mine almost killed me and left for dead in the woods two days after I'd bought it. I have a nice bloodstain on the handle as a memento of our first fight.

Nice tool shame about the mask that comes with them...........

I keep mine razor sharp and found out what it feels like the hard way - brushed the edge with the back of my hand and cut across two fingers - luckily I carry Steri strips (butterfly stitches).

Thank you all for your advise regarding axe safety and proper use of the tool. I once hit my shin with a hammer pretending it was an axe (I was 7 or so), since then I am *VERY* careful.

On a different note, I just treated the whole axe (the head, the haft, and the sheath) with Ballistol. So far it looks good. The leather really becomes supple, the grain in the handle comes out, and the axe head looks cleaner and has a sheen now. :)

Also, my Gransfors Bruks Axe Stone arrived today. YAY

VERY HAPPY :)
