yes Pignut, these are made with steel from a truck suspension, not the best I saw, but do their job

Do you leave them to cool slowly to get them to spark well? Did you have to do any other processes like tempering?

Hi TurboGirl, I quenching it in water (only the area where it hits), that was the only heat treatment I did to them (these are not tempered).

I already got some files and a big spring, I hope soon be able to test these steels

Way better than my first attempts! You did well sir :notworthy

Car springs is what I found the best option, before I ran out of them Files do well also, but extra job needed if you wish a smooth surface. Good luck!

Really Millius? I had to quench springs at way hotter than normal just to get had decent sparks. Files spark much better. Though I do quench in water
