Looks as if it might be good, if and when they make it. However, it does nothing that isn't achieved by existing systems from katadyn and sawyer, which are proven over years of use.

Informative links are hard to come by and the NASA site is a pain to find anything technical but did dig this out.
There's no reference anywhere to "Nanalum" but this stuff sounds fairly close from the description.

IF this is what is being used then that's some serious space age wizardry.

Seems the tech been around awhile, can purchase Argonide NanoCeram filters for household water filtering.
