?looks good but is it better at keeping stuff out than a net draped over a ridge line? (never used either so don't know about the practicalities of each method)

I would have thought so. He's completely enclosed by the net which must be a massive plus. I've used a box net before which was draped over the hammock, when I woke in the morning there were a dozen or so midges on the inside.

Bug socks are all the rage on Hammock Forums. I've got one ready to be sewn up now with ripstop ends to stop windblown rain, Pics to follow when I can get some time to finish it.
