Modern methods of waterproofing flax linen?

Hi Folks!
does anyone have any experiance in waterproofing (water resisting is proberly more like it) flax linen with modern methods?

if I was going period i would be doing things with linseed oil or tar but is their anything like TX10 for cotton which will have a effect on linen?

It might be worth contacting nikwax about there cotton Proof stuff http://www.nikwax.com/en-gb/products/productdetail.php?productid=758&itemid=-1&fabricid=-1 Thomsons water seal might do it, I know its used on canvas tarps

Well they replied very quickly, I'll give them that, but not as definative as id have liked

"Providing the clothing is washable by the care label then it will add a degree of water repellency but we cannot guarantee how good the results would be. We would recommend washing first with Techwash for best results."

Anybody got practical experiance?
