i bought a couple of these quite a while ago to play around with/modify and came to the conclusion they just weren't worth the bother and left them. moving on a few months and with a shortage of steel! i dug one out and had another go, from what i remember the steel was very soft with the re ground cutting edge buckling under heavy chopping so this time i re did the heat treat and ended up with a nice edge.
i havnt spent a great deal of time on the finish of this but after sitting around in a tool box thought id tidy it up and fit some scales.

I'd never have guessed in a year of Sundays that those two were on in the same. Sort of a reverse transmogrification. Lovely job.

What a total transformation, talk about the ugly duckling turning into a swan. Really fantastic job on the knife and it's new leather outfit is lovely too.
