Nothing unusual but ive got a couple of 1940's u.s.canteens and cups,a couple of modern u.s.sets in molle pouches with the trioxane cooker and rubber lid..A ww2 british canteen and a mystery(french?)canteen and cup thats almost the same as the british 44 pattern only taller. And not forgetting the us army arctic insulated canteen and cup!

You are not alone!:D

The handle set up on the chinese one is pretty impressive. Not only is it a handle but it converts to a bail arm to suspend container over fire, genius!

I have 44 pattern bottles with black plastic lids and ali lids with cups and covers, 58 pattern ospreys with crusaders, dutch with cups, and Us army 1 qt and 2qt canteens and covers. all very good. like the ergonomics of the US issue, but prefer the quality of the Osprey with the rubber seals and better plastic.

When I said I didn't know if it was Fake I meant:-
That I didn't know if it is a Propper army issue Item or someone has knocked them up copying the russian version which is very similar and then flogging them as official chinese army issue.

I've seen Green 58" bottles/cups before, and i know you can get sand coloured ones(issued to other gulf forces).

this one may be of interest:
note: my non stick "green" mess tins top right.

I bought them in a charity shop for about £2 so i don't know where you can get them from.

What is the silver thing above your rite-in-the-rain?

A Russian Monocular given to me by Globetrotter :D

(BTW the pouches shown are the fake ones I made! I just use my genuine SAS pouches now)

looks like a monocular to me
Nice useful pouch on the bottom left too
Nice set up on the whole

Cheers, the pouch bottom left also is homemade, I was fed up of all my tools rattling.

Ive got a book about 44 and 58 pattern webbing and in it they have a reference to the green 58 bottles. They apparently were the first trial for the 58 bottles but were quite expensive to make so the MOD slightly changed the design of the bottles and went for black plastic as they were apparently cheaper to make.

Also apparently in the jungle trials most got lost; they put them down and couldn't find them again

Survival Aids still do them, only not in green.

The 'Old' Survival Aids was a different thing than the current company.. They used to sell a lot of well thought through stuff that was Survival Aids Branded a lot of it aimed at 'the military user' Lionheart Goretex jackets, Ventile jackets Green Mess tins etc. Leafing through the little A5 catalogue was good fun...
