I heard on the radio today that three mexicans were picked up near the marshall islands, having survived at sea for 9 months. They'd apparently lived on raw fish and sea birds, and drank the abundant rain water, and kept their heads together reading the bible.
I've read a book about survival at sea, and seen the Ray Mears episode where he interviews somebody who lasted three months drifting across the atlantic, but nine months is something else entirely. NINE MONTHS! I can't get over it.
The report was brief, and didn't say any more than I've written here. The big question is whether they were drifting in a boat or if they were in a life raft.
