I was attending our village christmas lights switching on ceremony this evening and enjoying a cold glass of orange juice and a sausage roll in the hall afterwards when I was asked if i would join the coastguard rescue team ;)

Anyone else been involved? I will most likley join as I have wanted to for years but any advice would be welcome.

Not personally. I do have a friend who was a member of the Coast Guard Auxilliary (an unpaid volunteer group assisting the real Coast Guard) She enjoyed it. She was in the Auxilliary here in Florida but I can't find a link to them as good as this one to the Alaska Sector's program on the weather channel: www.weather.com/tv/tvshows/coast-guard-alaska

Hi, I am a Coastguard Rescue Officer in addition to my day job. I'll send you my phone number and you can give me a call over Christmas. Happy to tell you how our team operates but each area will be slightly different in the nature of their typical 'shouts'. Best wishes, Glyn.
