Mine came blunt as a cucumber on both sides. Took considerable time to rebevel but works a treat when it's done as a hunting axe/hatchet.
Have a Filson Macinaw Cruiser coat with a rear pocket that it fits in perfectly.
Designed as a trappers cruiser double bit axe used on softwoods (softer steel temper). Decent balance, swings well for a smaller axe but handle is a bit too narrow for most.
I use it all the time and have become very attached to it, even more than my Knives of Alaska Hunter's Hatchet.
Can't hardly go wrong with it for the money if you know what you're doing as I know Wayland is quite capable afield he should have no problems making it dance for him in hand.
