Made myself a new fire steel

I finally found a few minutes to make a fire steel to a design I sketched a while ago. I'm not quite sure yet, I may tinker with it a bit more, but I'm happy to leave this one as it is and try a few more. Made from truck spring and only hardened along the striking edge.

That looks not only eminently practical but it has a grace of it's own too :D I like that.
Good art should enhance good craft. I think this does.

VaughnT, it's 9cm on the long axis. I can get three fingers in the gap, four at a pinch so I will make the next one slightly more curved so it's a bit easier to get all my fingers in.

I will try a few other designs as well soon, as an antidote to all the Christmas stuff I'm making at the moment.
