I am now at Sofitel at Terminal 5.

Outside our house we had some lovely crocuses when we arrived 2 weeks ago, but the snow buried them the third or forth day.
When we left the snow was about 60 cm deep.

Well, no fishing last time. Gale, snow gale, storm, snow storm. For two weeks.
Well, back again! I drove my new boat from the mechanic.
Tomorrow - fishing!

Skitt fiske Janne! :D
I'm heading for Porsanger in September for fishing and joining the gathering/slaughtering of reindeer.
I hope for bigger fish than the tiny trouts I've got down here in the south ;)

Mange takk, Arya!

Trout may be small, but extremely tasty!
I hope to get cod, hyse, sei, mackerel. Herring if I am lucky!
25 years of yearly fishing and only 3 herring so far.

So you have Same friends?

Let's hope your Herring awaits you then 😁

Mackerel, my favourite fish! Worth all the pesky bones.

One of my best friends found herself a fisherman up there, and moved up. He's the one that arranged for us to join the Same :)

Any single lady friends? Plenty of single fishermen here.

We get so many mackerel it is not funny after a hour. Sometimes we can not reach the other fish below.

Normally we keep some for the bottom line and krabbe tiner, but as it is only me and wife we will only eat two each. Plus a local friend want about 50 for his lines in winter.

Sounds wonderful. I like the odd bit of mackerel sashimi straight after I've brought it on the boat with a bit of soy and wasabi. Obviously you need to remember to take them with you. :) I think it'll be nice to try a more English variation of Worcestershire sauce and horseradish to do the same.
I hope you catch a herring. They sound like gold!

It's the same down here, with the Mackerel. An abundance of them and super easy to catch.
Good for a Mackerel lover like me :D
No need for bait, just a black hook (or line with many hooks) and try not to drown in the amount one can haul up.
I even got Cod just on black hooks!
Weird as I am, I traded the Cod for Mackerels, haha!
"Ok, who wants the Cod, and how many Mackrels are you willing to bid for it?"

New boat is the best one I have ever owned. Stable, roomy, excellent to fish from.
The engine is a dream. Smoooooth, quiet. When applying the throttle agressively and the turbo kicks in - WOW!

Well, long story. A couple of years ago, I bought a Hansvik 550 Profi. Had a Honda 60 hp put on.
Goid boat, but very limited soace when 3 or more people fished from it. Also, as only 5.5 meters, it did not like too big waves. Also I had ptoblems sitting and fishing from behind the centre console, boots got trapped, legs got trapped.
In March this year I could not fish because of the horrible weather. Wife told me she would like a larger, so I started looking.
Then an offshore company had a vessel moored here, and they had a really cool tender.
A hard rib, made by Helgeland Plast, boat line called Polar cirkel.

To keep it short, I ordered a hybrid between the 785 Fisher and 785 Workboat.

As my local boat mechanic is authorised dealer for Mercury, and I wanted to give him business, I ordered from him a Mercury Verado 225.
Enough with a 200 hp, but the 225 is a 6 cylinder = smoother.

He did a few more modifications. As the engine got delivered from outside Norway ( none in stock here) he had a short time to install it, so no depth and fish finder. Plus the propellor is slightly oversize, needs replacing. Plus a couple of wirk lights and spotlights needs to be installed.

Todays we went out a few hours. I got the largest cod, about 10 kilos which is not bad for summer.
Wife got two cod, around 5-6 kilo each. The fillets will be frozen and taken back to Cayman
Loads of mackerel. We saved 6 fillets for tonight, will grill them.

Then we bagged about 15 round cleaned mackerel, bait for the halibut line for next winter trip.
We only kept the mackerel that were severely damaged by the hook, the rest we released back.
