Let's say something positive.

  • Come along to the amazing Summer Moot (21st July - 2nd August), a festival of bushcrafting and camping in a beautiful woodland PLEASE CLICK HERE for more information.
In every family there are such disputes........but remember .....blood is thicker than water!
By being here we are part of a wonderful family and share an inerest/bloodline.
Any of us who has spent time round the bushcraft fire know this to be the case, so lets get on with the important things .....like be out there, doing it, not arguing online (in a virtual world - the natural/ real world is what its all about).

Nice thread Wayland.

I think it would be a good idea if some members offered to do a few workshops every now and again if they have time, and are willing, and at no cost to anyone except maybe to cover materials provided by the person doing the workshop which nobody can complain about. It would benifit the new members and promote our little community. It's good to meet up with people on here too, whether you're experienced or not. So how about it some of you who have got all those skills? :You_Rock_
There are so many people with such a vast wealth of knowledge and skills here so why don't we use it. Explaining online is good, but you can't beat being shown by someone. The bushmoot is a great event but a few workshops now and again in between always go down well. I've done a couple of 'fire by friction' workshops, and a plant ID'ing workshop for people on here and am organising a fishing trip and they've been good fun, so how about it folks? I think it's a great bonus for any one on here to be able to go to them, it just needs a few people to stand up and offer to do them. I've been trying to arrange an outdoor cooking workshop at a local scout campsite but they havn't replied to my 2 e-mails so I've given that up as a lost cause, and have no venue to do this now as of course it requires a fire. However In the spirit of this idea I'm going to offer to do a Navigation workshop to anyone who is interested. It'll be in the Autumn when I've decided on a date I'll post it in meet-ups section.

I can only second everything that's been said in this thread! :) I've learnt loads here, the vastly overwhelming majority of posters have a great attitude, the mods do a sterling job, etc, etc... :D :D

I can't think of any other forum I've been on whose members I'd be happy to spend a weekend in the middle of nowhere with without having met any of them before. I've just done exactly that, and it was great!

I stumbled over this site after googling bushcraft as I wanted to get back into an interest I had had as a teenager to my great surprise I found the very helpful nice considerate bunch of people that I didn’t think could exist in our modern (I want it now and I’m going to stand on you to get it) world.

I moved to the south east over five years ago now for a long while it was just me and my wife we knew no one and didn’t really go any where to meat people as there was no where that catered for our likes. Thorough this site I have made good friends and now have a local group of people to share my likes and experiences with and it has changed my life and my outlook on the world. I have gained skills I never would have learned, I have made things I never would have made, I have discovered place I would never have been to, I’ve met people that I would never have had the chance to talk to.

and best of all I have been accepted into this community and been able to contribute to it so that others can enjoy the same things as I do.

BCUK is unlike any community I have ever belonged to and long may it stay that way.
