knife handle

Ive started to make myself a knife from O1 steel it as a full tang and i want to on what kind of glue to use for the handle and where to get it from i was also was told to glue a thin leather piece of material on the tang and then glue the handle to that is this right

Use araldite mate, you can get it off eBay, amazon and in diy shops like homebase and B&Q! Costs about £5

there are alot of handle making tutorials on here so have a good look.

Rivets are good if you have the tools, but glue if you don't have alot of gear.

The aluminium rivets in machete handles are crap and ware down making the handle loose, I glued and riveted mine for extra security.

your best bet is to do both, use epoxy to hold the scales on but have holes for pins as well, drill the holes slightly over size and make the pins slightly longer than needed, then peen them over, the epoxy acts as a water seal and to stop the scales lifting off, and the pins stop them twisting.
