Cheers guys, Not quite done yet, this is taking a fair while as i need to be so careful not to take a corner off, slow and deliberate is the way. One slip and.....

The handle is oiled, the bolster polished, i'll have to let it cure overnight, before i can polish the handle itself.... 46 working hours so far, and i haven't even started the sheath yet.:vio:

Sorry for the wait guys

Cheers Dave :)

Robbi - :p

Well the knife is pretty much done, sheath still to make of course so if you want a WIP on that aswell, let me know.

All comments welcome and if anyone has any critique, feel free to post it. This was a first stick tang and first bowie, so there will be much room for improvement.

Enjoy... and thanks for following the thread and bearing with me... :)

Lovely work indeed, lots gone into it looking at it. Thanks for sharing.

Looking at the last pic I'd be tempted to put your maker's mark on a flat on the butt of the handle as well but that would likely be overkill. I'd be tempted though

You've done it again Mark, she's a beaut! Definitely interested in seeing the sheath too, if you can be bothered to go through all that effort again!

Its one heck of a long blade isn't it, looks almost like you could use it as a chef's knife (perhaps a new product range in the making :p )!

Cheers guys :)

I may yet embellish the handle with something. A gold inlay or something, running around the top and rear to accentuate the bevels.

I'll do a WIP on the sheath then, but it wont be yet, i have 2 commissions on first,:)

Cracking bit of work Mark, really enjoyed the WIP here and on the other channels.

As mentioned before I think it was fortuitous the the Yew did not work out on this one as the Blackwood is gorgeous, from a woodworkers point of view I think that if you extended the top bevels up the the brass guard with a chisel it would really enhance the Coffin theme but that is being darned picky and in no way meant to criticize a flipping great knife:)

Thanks gents...and ladies :)...the comments are appreciated. :)

Not had a play yet Sam, other than to to test the edge on some paper, don't want to get it dirty :D

Toby - Aye, i'm happy with the blackwood, is so strong, dense and stable, i think its one of the most suitable handle materials about. Even a thin piece about 1mm thick takes some effort to snap it along the grain.

I did the handle bolster transition like that, more as a matter of comfort than anything, and i figured there would be too much "edge" under the thumb/finger web. :)

A chap on Natural Bushcraft suggested i should name it the Undertaker..... i like it :D...What do you think?
