I saw an advert for this at http://www.surplusandadventure.com/ishop/800/shopscr2006.html . They cost £7.95 + P&P and struck me that if you swapped the straps round to one single shoulder strap it could make a viable alternative to a WW2/WW1 (Indinanna Jones) bag, has anybody seen one and are they any good please? :)

I'm unsure about the quality of the item but I would like to say that I have had some terrible experiences with surplusandadventure. I was very unhappy with some of the items and got no response from them at all.

I'm not saying they're bad, only that my experience of them is bad.

no idea about those Kid´s rucksacks - the only camouflage used by the Germans is "Flecktarn", before they had "Nato oliv".

German (and other) Army surplus and camouflage patterns are on www.raeer.de

I used to have one of the genuine issue olive ones - they were manufactured from the 1950s through to the 1980s and used detachable 'Y' straps/yokes. They are far too large to use as a side (one shoulder) bag.

The camouflage ones listed on the web site are definitely copies and to be honest even the real ones are not worth having.

The newer German army canvas rucksacks (pictured in the post above) are fantastic and virtually indestructable. There is also a more recent cordurra version which is lighter and less hard wearing but still a very good rucksack.
