The MOD survival knife or as we used to call it a "Smashett" :D

Does what it says on the tin but in a pretty gruesome way, will take a good edge however with the amount of weight it has behind it, thats not really an issue ;)

Treat it mean and with the contempt it deserves i.e makes a pretty good digging stick

The british army small machete (about £15) and the blackie collins mini machete (about £30) might both be options worth cosidering. I have no experience of either, but have read some reviews that are heavily in their favour...

There used to be a thing called a smatchette, they weren't bad, but they weren't good either.

Kukhri's are good, just the style and technique (it takes time to use one properly is the thing).

The MOD is the same in many ways, but they are cheap and chearfull as well as being on issue.

The Oakland (lofty's knife is a good one), when used by someone that knows what they are doing in the correct enviroment.

Get yourself a saw and a decent small knife. You can take down a tree that is waiste size using a machete, the question is would you want to in a normal civivlian enviroment when an axe or other tool is capable of doing the same thing in probably less time??

The answer is probably NO, back to basics folks.
