Just thought I'd give a brief review of my recently acquired Kammo gaiters. I've only had them for a couple of weeks so regarding strength and durability I really can't say but I thought I would give them a bit of a road test yesterday through the water meadows.
At this time of year the vegetation is at its tallest and after weeks of rain everywhere is pretty water logged. I went for a couple of hour walk through the meadows which are knee high with grasses, docks, nettles etc and the riverside path is overgrown with comfry. In addition to the vegetation I crossed a few drainage ditches and these were above ankle deep.
Despite the very humid weather my legs did not feel hot, I wouldn't ordinarily wear gaiters on such a 'sticky' day but it certainly proved their breathability. I was wearing them over gortex berghaus explorer boots and Fjalraven forester trousers, both of which are also breathable. They are also totally silent, no rustling noise at all, so great for deerstalking.
These gaiters lace up under the foot and the lace did come undone at one point, luckily I felt it and redid the knot - there must be a better method?
On arrival home I was pleased to find my legs dry. There was a slightly damp (but not wet)water mark where my trousers went over the ankle of my boot but having walked through ditches I am not really suprised . Early days but so far pleased with the purchase.
