Yep cant wait to get out myself unfortunately first weekend i can get out is two weeks from now, probably all melted by then, just left with lots of very muddy ground.

i must say mate, i was driving to leyburn from catterick on thursday with work, and looked accross the training area there and thought to meself, id love to be out there, even for just one night or even just from dawn till dusk lol.
when i was in the army i was 51 mountain warfare brigade, we did alot in the cairngorms (we were based in inverness) and also in the spanish piranese.
was great, getting every friday off to go walk up the mountains.
id love to get out and about in the snow!

so anyway yeah, your not alone

last year i camped in the snow. by the time my tarp was set up it was dark and i had no fire, that night was bloody cold! haha
when i finally got up i saw that all the snow bellow my roll mat had all melted so make sure you have a thick one or make a propper bed if you can.

the rest of the day was absolute bliss:) just sat warming myself next to the fire making brews and cooking last nights failed dinner

good times

I was going to go out yesterday but... I've hurt my knee and can't put weight on my knee when bent (so no walking up or down stairs, or up or down hills). Hope the snow lasts a bit longer..

Didn't camp, but did have a great day in the snowy hills today, and a nice meal on the woodburning stove. The dog was less impressed and shivered a lot. Idiot me forgot to take a camera, and naturally the views were stunning.

I did some snowy camping (tarp and bivvy) in january, and if i get the chance, i'll do something similar again. People always ask "Weren't you cold?", and the answer is always "No, of course not. I go prepared". We don't carry all this gear for the fashion statement. I'm colder now, indoors at my computer, than I was at any time on the hills today.

Definately with you on this one!

I took a wander down to the woods with SWMBO this afternoon to try out the new smock. There was an even dusting of around two inches of the white stuff, which was very useful to telling where the scallys were going and which paths were most frequently used. This, in my mind at least, helps to decide where to camp if you want a little more peace and quiet come the warmer months.

We even managed to follow some of the deer tracks for quite a distance through the quieter parts.....Good times :D

It makes my other interest 'interesting'

Had a great run out today with my running club :)

Bugger, no snow here in Torquay, not even anything nearby either, but I do love to be out camping in the cold weather.

I love waking in the morning and everything is still and quiet and sound travels for miles, grabs go bag and car keys...
