And - The carriers 'surcharge' of £8 to do the paperwork and collect your money.
Here is an example worked on importation of a Knife from Japan.
Get the sender to use the correct TARIC code. Different goods attract different rates of import duty, and second-hand goods might also be exempt from VAT. I'm no expert, and it has been a while since I last put any serious effort into researching this, so things may well have changed.
