As you all know by now, I lost my old workshop last august and have been working to get my new one set up in my woods eversince. Well, it's not finished but I can finally start working in it at last! :red: :red: :red: :red: :red: :red: :red: :red: :red: :red:

So here it is :)

to save me re-writing the tour that I've just put on my website, here's the link ;)

It's not 100% there and there are ongoing problems with the genny for example, but i can at least start making things again, which is just as well since we are now in the middle of the show season and I have no stock :bluThinki

I've also settled on a new logo. I gave up trying to find something that was linked to my name or my work, they all looked naff or wouldn't work for me. In the end I took Saxen my dog as inspiration, mated him with the Uffington White Horse and came up with this ;)

Great to hear. It's rough when you lose your ... playroom/sandbox!

Nice looking shop. Altho any shop looks nice compared to my couple sheets of tin and plastic/nylon tarp shack.

On a professional note, ;) how long did it take to run out of room inside?

A friend that I help out blacksmith built a new shop 2 years ago - 40 by 80 feet. He figured out and planned everything to fit in - and still have lots of room in the center for layout/assembly. So much for "plans". We still try hard to keep several "work zones" clear enough to actually do work in them. His web site and shop/work picks www.bigriverforge.com

Congrats on the new shop. But now you've lost that "big excuse", and have to do some actual work!:D

Very nice Dave. As Mike says I'm sure you'll fill it very quickly indeed. :) Look forward to seeing some work with your new logo as well.

I like your logo, very clear. I used to design and produce logos all day every day and after a while you decide by gut instinct in a second or 2 if they work, yours does. It would look equally good on say a t shirt also carved in oak to make a shop sign, on a letterhead, small or large. What about a weather vane with that design.
Nice looking shop too. Was it done with a joined frame? What happens if you want to move something around such as the bench? Just dig new post holes and re plant? Could you not just fit running boards along the floo/wall join (like on fences) which you could replace periodically when they go?

yep it's solar powered :D I've only got 4 80w panels at the moment but I'll get more when the money will allow. I've also got a lister genny that I can run on veg oil or bio-diesel (when I can get the damn thing working again)

I filled it before I even started fitting it out

When I designed the workshop I worked out how much space I needed and added a bit more, based on the dimensions of my old place. then I realised that i had no money :( The original plan was to have a main room of 10x6m, a small 4x6m room for leatherwork and wood storage and then a 3m wide porch along the front to work outside and store timber, chorcoal etc. That would've cost 10 grand, so I settled for an 11x5m building instead :( But I can at least build onto it in the future when I can afford it ;)

Dave, that looks cool, very cool... But, glaring mistake me thinks, I took the tour, I see no kettle!!!!

don't worry stuart, it was hiding in a corner at the time but it normally sits on the forge ;)

George, I'm hoping to start making again tomorrow :) Though I have to go and get some quenchiing oil later in the week coz the rats ate the bottom out of my vat so I lost the lot! I'm going to have a stamp made with the new logo but it will be a couple of months til that happens, until then it will be the old Budd stamp

As for internal shots, here are a few but it's not finished yet so there are lots of things missing
