I've been watching the latest I'm a celeb jungle blah blah because of Shaun Ryder. Was wondering what the hats are that they all wear ?

I'm guessing they are Akubra, maybe Akubra Stockmans but not sure. Anybody know what they are ?

Akubra "snowy river" (the very best known of the akubra hats) 100% fur felt hat, so beloved of the australian drovers, and latterly seen on the "i'm a celebrity, get me out of here" show. They say that this hat gives shade, makes a good fan, keeps snakes at bay, makes a wonderful water jug for your horse, a terrific fly swatter, and can even be used as a hat!

Oh yes, and they are hot and sweaty in summer and freezing cold in the winter time. Sold mine and never regretted it.
I rather own and wear alternatively a Tilley or a woolen beret.

Been wearing mine quite a while now. Before it I've worn similar felt hats since I was about 11 or 12 (many, many decades ago) Never have been uncomfortable in them. Good when working, canoeing, hunting (real hunts lasting weeks in the mountains or swamps) Great when herding cattle (yes some of us still do that for real) Always hated the synthetics like Tilley and other such wanna-be hats usually sold at the hippy supply places.

Before that I have usually wore some sort of similar felt hat since I was 11 or 12 (many, many decades ago) They were always quite good and performed brilliantly when working, canoeing hunting (real hunts in the mountains or swamps lasting weeks) or when farming/ranching (yes some of us still do that for real). Never cared for the synthetics like Tilley or the other wanna-be hats favored by the hippy crowd.

Have to agree, I've worn an akubra, daily, for years. I wear a cattleman model as it has a re-enforced rim and takes a year or two longer to wear out. summer its cool (vented) and warm in the winter.

Love the Cattleman; actually love most Akubras. Darn fine hats and reasonably priced for the quality.
