If you want 100% safety never, ever use a cutting tool!

When I was 8 I didn't close the lock on my Opinel while cutting carpet for my den.
It sliced through my forefinger, I had 3 stitches.
I was lucky I didn't lose my finger.
If that happened I can't imagine that I would've started played the trumpet.
I ended up doing a Jazz Studies degree.

Last summer I bought a pair of fishing scissors.
They came in a hard plastic wrapping that was impossible to open.
I picked up my Stanley Sport knife.
A Stanley knife with a liner locking blade on the other side.
I sat down, cracked open a beer and turned on the telly,
I opened the Stanley and used some force to cut through the plastic packaging.

It shot through the plastic and made a slice in my trousers.
I looked down and thought "I felt that".

I stood up and pulled down my trousers, I had a 1 inch slice in my thigh.
Not much blood at all!

3 stitches later at Harrogate hospital.
All the Nurses were saying how nice the cut was.
They said it was a very clean cut.

At least if you get cut by something super sharp it's easy for them to sew up.

I really freaked my self out.
The cut didn't hurt or bleed.
But if it had been higher, I could've cut my nuts or hit an artery.

I have the utmost respect for anything sharp and tend to do everything
ssllowwllyy and on a chopping board.

Thanks Wayland, I didn't want the hand outs to appear to be my own work. I prefer to ask rather than assume and will amend accreditation as suggested.
