How do I use "true" tinder fungus

Finaly got hold of some birch conch (think thats what its called) but havent a clue how to use it as tinder. Any ideas anyone???

No. It doesnt realy look like a fungus but more of a big black "crusty bit" on the trunk.

My god!!!! once you get this stuff alight its almost impossible to put out!!!!! It just goes on, and on, and on......In the end I had to use water on it so my smoke alarm didnt go off!!

Stu. BTW, NO processing needed, apart from letting it dry.
