ive got a relatively cheap gelert bivy (which is breathable) but if your using a wee tarp over your head you can use a none breathable one 3/4 over your bag without worrying about condensation but if your going to use it as a proper bivy bag without a tarp then id look for something breathable and of good quality. Mine was just for when i slept in my debris shelter case i was a bit thin on thatching to keep my bag dry i didnt seal it right up.

Those Kestrels don't breathe, despite claims on the stuff-sack and literature. Mine filled with condensation quite quickly. The biggest consolation is that they're cheap, so it's been relegated to being an emergency bag for the car.

Spend a little more on an Alpkit one.
