Help with blade

I have just bought a part finished blade but i am having problems polishing and sharpining the blade. I am using waterstones but am not sure if my 800 grit is to fine for this. Is there any1 in the tyne and wear or northumberland area who could help

800 grit is really very fine if you have deep scratches it will take you forever to get them out with 800. get some 100 and try that, then work your way up to 180 then 300 etc etc
