I need HELP
Right, have just booked mine and the missuses wedding for july.
She went out and bought a posh frock for her but i'm rather unsure as what i want for me.
we're having the ceremony in a field under a beautiful Oak tree. Now, i have vague images in my mind, but most of my wardrobe is made up of grotty jeans, craghoppers and oregon chainsaw trousers, and even i know they won't be acceptable.
What i'm after or at least thinking about, are some just below knee length boots (a bit Darcy), trousers to match(confused shrug), a loose cotton shirt (cerca civil war but without the flouncy sleeves) and a leather or suede jerkin.
Now, i have no idea where to even start on this, does anybody have any ideas or make this type of thing or know anybody who does.
Any help or suggestions would be much apprieciated.
By the way, wedding takes place on the 28th July in a field near malvern, all Welcome, just bring a bottle and enjoy the caleidh

What size are you? I may have a medaeval linen shirt and leather waistcoat (lace up front) you'd be welcome to borrow. As for trousers, corduroy climbing breeches might do the trick. You'll have to talk in a deep voice and start smoking a pipe dressed like that though.

Hi,
short of having them made...the only place I can think of is listed below but it's the States (good exchange rates though) I hope that even if the place itself is little use atleast there will be some pics or something to help..

I suppose Sealed Knot might have a web site with a link to somewhere else?

cheers Tim

baggins,

Sounds great mate.

Seriously I'd ask for Toddy's advice - she's well into the clothing side of living history.

Plus she's a lass so she'll be well into weddings :D

How about a jacobite or ghillie shirt and leather waistcoat...and I like the idea of breeches... ;)

At my wedding last year, I wore combat boots, black long socks, blackwatch kilt, black ghillie shirt and black horsehair sporran with white tassles and a pipers black watch wrap over plaid, long hair shaved underneath at the sides for that wild look :umbrella: and we still got married on top of a hill in Aberfoyle in the pi****g rain!

I liked the outfit so much I wore on our honeymoon kayaking up the west coast!

Gotta go for the kilt outfit. You can rent one or buy from evilbay for about £100 all in if you shop around for your bits. I love my kilt and wear it all the time just like a pair of jeans. I do get some strange looks walking around central manchester :lmao: But thats part of the appeal.
Good luck with the wedding and all the best for the future. It sounds like a lovely place to get married.

That is brill, thanks guys, will start trawling. Might not go with the kilt though, legs like mine never see the light of day (and there are going to be kids at the wedding  )
Will let you know how i get on.
