Hello from (currently sunny) Bristol

Hello,
Just landed here and wanted to say hi! I thought of coming down to the Bushmoot this summer (not booked yet). I never been before. I am hoping to meet some fab people, learn some new skills and enjoy some woodland times.
I am in Bristol and I have too many hobbies but the main theme to my interests is diy, self reliance, traditional crafts and getting outdoors.

Please say hello on here so I don’t feel to lost when I arrive to Wales.
Maybe you can help me out by telling me what to pack into my Bushmoot rucksack?

What to pack into your Bushmoot... well the essentials would be a shelter, something warm to sleep in, something to sleep on, something to cook with and the most essential item of the lot is a chair. Sitting on the ground soon looses its appeal.

In seriousness you bring along whatever you feel is necessary to make sure you're comfortable, some go lightweight, some glamp and everything between.

You're welcome, you want to be comfortable otherwise you won't enjoy yourself as much.

As for different options, it's nice to have things to try be it cooking methods, sleeping styles etc. As Crossland said, we're a friendly bunch and you'll always be able to find someone to help you if you need some assistance.

Ohhh, thank you I am looking forward to learn some tricks. I go a new hammock and a ground set up too. I am sure looking forward to this. I better get them tickets now.

I bring lots of kit for all sorts of reasons
For cooking I bring 3 stoves, two meths, one gas - and charcoal - to back up a wood fire ...options galore
I bring 2 chairs and have boxes to sit on as well - for guests
Hammock, kip mats, thermarests ... options, sleeping bag, quilt, blanket, fur rug ... options
Too much food, lots of drinks (tea, coffee, fruit teas, milk, hot choc, beer whisky, wine ... options
Dutch oven, bake stone, billies, pots, frying pans, options, archery kit, throwing ax, rope machine, flint and steel kit , matches, lighter, knives, sewing kit, spade (digging and throwing ) stick built tables, tripods, pot hangers, forged pot hangers
I like playing and travel heavy, having done the minimalist bit when I was young and foolish - I make a lot of my own kit and like to play with it .... I do not have to carry stuff far - and have a folding trolly to help me .
If I can get it in the car it comes with me

Now that is what a call a true ManCave! Excellent, I take it you are setting up for both weeks and poor teddy is just having to hand in there until he gets back home.

As for trapping the squirells I don't think the estate owners would appreciate any unauthorised trapping and shooting air rifles on the site, even target shooting, is strictly verbotten

thank you for the super list too, I will keep it and check against it before I set off.

I spent my childhood Sunday’s in the woods between Berlin and Leipzig getting up to the usual entertainment with hunting for mushrooms, fishing, birch sap, swimming and bratwurst.

Have you got a favourite place to go for your bushcraft?

My usual job is to hang up posters for classical concerts, mainly everywhere in France and Germany and I usually travel all the year round , living out of the bushcraft rucksack, and I spend free time in the woods here and there.

I have a canoe next to Fürstenberg and use it out of the high season if I am in the area, then one is nearly alone on the lakes.

But my brother owns a farm next to Oranienburg where I currently spend my time and that's pretty bushcrafty too.

He thinks he has seen the wolf in our hedge. And I am pretty convinced that I found his traces last winter, so there isn't really a need to go for adventures in Siberia...
