I was all set on a tikkaplus, then I read about a Peli head torch with combined LED light and Xenon/halogen.(peli make the waterproof indistructable hard photo cases)
So, many hours of LED and halogen bright light when you need it. They also do a belt pack version that runs on D cells (400Hrs LED 15Hrs Halogen). All come with a LIFETIME WARRANTY- you break it they fix it.
My petzyl Zooms have always been a little unreliable. I tend to have to thump the battery compartment to get it to work. (its usually on my head at the time
)
