Somebody sitting behind me at a meet up once grumbled to his mate that he was a bit surprised to see me lighting the communal fire with a match.

I was rather amused as I walked away from a healthy blaze to hear his mate comment that "it was only one match..."

Was only kidding about the flint and steel, but yes it does amaze me that folks get so impressed when you do get a fire going really quickly no mater what the ignition method. Just shows how basic skills have been eroded out of modern humans.

An absolute brilliant weekend; with great company, and a double birthday at that. The tables were heaving with food (and I do mean heaving), and best of all we got to celebrate a good friends 50th and a good friend **th (a gentleman never discusses a ladies age). what could be better definitely looking forward to the 100th mate
