I have been a long time lurker but never saw the need to register. This will double my forum reading/posting time so fortunately I have some free time this winter.
For those that have not met me on SotP or in person, I am a life long outdoors person having grown up farming, hunting, fishing and doing forestry work. I have spent most of my adult life working in corrections, security and law enforcement and recently did a year working with a firefighting company in the northwest of Canada in the oil and gas industry.
I do a fair amount of guiding into the wilderness here in Canada and will probably expand this in the future. Most of my clients are children's groups and business groups here at home and I organize some trips for Song of the Paddle members as well. As well I do some part time fabrication of just about everything. Mostly costume design and outdoors products these days.
I have a big dumb dog who in spite of being 10 years old, thinks he is a puppy. He is now on a terrorist watch list after an attempted hijacking of a Westjet Moncton to Toronto in September of 2012. His name is Hunter and he is a Chesapeake bay retriever. A breed that enjoys breaking through the ice to go swimming.
I have spent a life being pretty irresponsible, quitting jobs and leaving loved ones on anniversaries and birthdays to go explore the outdoors. I have never been one to conform and am a bit of an oddball as many SotP readers will know. However I am otherwise pretty harmless and have accumulated vast sums of memories, scars and experiences none of which can ever be taken away.
Here is a small look at my recent world travels and experiences.
Anyway; sorry about the gratuitous photo session but that is a little bit of the last few years. I find looking at a persons trip photos helps me to feel as if I know them a bit better. I hop it wors the same with others as well. I have made tons of friends on SotP and looking forward to meeting a few more over on this site. It my take me some time to learn my way around so please be patient.
