Front garden looking crazy fungi

Found this really crazy looking mushroom growing in the garden:yikes:!!!!I don't what the hell it's is called,Looking for a bit of help to I.D this one guys

Look like the mushroom from hell or something

It looks like some weird sea anaemone

What can you do with it ? Apart from wonder ??

The one in the book looks less gnarled and old, much more slick and shiney, but still really odd... and even more like a sea creature! The only info I have is that it's native to NZ and oz, and not edible. Worth looking into other uses though?

Sorry John, apparently only one ever recorded outside of a greenhouse... might be time to start searching through the plants in the garden centre greenhouse that have been imported from Ozzy-land...
