I've tried taking apart a 9v battery to find batteries that would fit in a AAA slot and it does have them in, (just a bit thinner) which is great for if you don't have any AAA's. althought the battery was flat so I don't know whether it did actually work.

Try getting your hands on McDonalds happy meal toys. The ones with LEDs are usually good for a couple of batteries.
