its got `BATISSE` on the blade and a half moon face.

A french name, anyone heard of them?

I can't find much about the name, it appears to have been a well known name and mark, coming from the town of Thiers. The photo I found is of a early twentieth century "peasant's knife". Where did you find yours? How big is it?

Would you have a better pic? I found a french website offering an knife ID service!

I found it in a box of antique cutlery.

its 9 inches long and may be a carving knife,

Theres certanly the scratches on the blade you get when you sharpen frequently with one of those long sharpeners
