My gardening has met with very uneven success over the past 10 years.
I really want to grow peas and green beans. Enough for a few feeds.
Root crops of all sorts (parsnips, potatoes, orange/yellow/red/purple carrots) have done the best.
I can still dig them when the snow flies in November when the dandelions look like Romaine lettuce.

This summer past, I mixed all the carrot seeds together so I didn't know what I'd get, digging them up.
Purple/orange core trumps all the rest for taste.

Spuds in containers - mix soil & seaweed below, mulch well to rretain moisture & stop the new tubers getting green.
Jerusalem Artichokes - BRILLIANT! Pheasants love them too...

Works well using bin liners too, my grandson thinks they are 'magic spuds'...:D
