Just a quick note having been on an afternoon's workshop at Rutland County Museum, Oakham, which was being ran as part of the National Festival of Archaeology.
Ran by Karl Lee, it was very informative, he started by demonstrating how to manufacture a hand axe, and discussed how it would have been used by the hunters for butchering.
He then instructed us in how to make a hide scraper, with everyone making at least one.
Finally, he demonstrated how to make a barbed arrow head.
The course was an excellent introduction to flint knapping, and excellent value for money at just £10 for the half day. Thoroughly recommended.
